Natural Hair color for dark hair

Hair coloring has been implicated in hair loss and scalp damage. Most colorants use ammonia or another chemical to open the hair shaft. These chemicals may be the factors damaging to hair growth and thus more natural methods are suggested.

For dark hair, to get some color into hair and cover grey in a natural way...

Black tea many bags in a cup of water brewed well. Add a cup of vinegar and/or few tablespoons of vitamin C after cooling the teabags. Comb into hair, squeezing the teabag out. Application on moist hair just after drying seems to color white strands a reddish brown and covers grey. This takes several applications for best effect, but is less recognized by acquaintances that way.

Comfrey tea may also be used for extra benefit to the scalp.

Cloves and black walnut also works well on the front exposed root areas that are harder to cover. This is pre-mixed as Fresh green black walnut wormwood mixtures.

Ammonia (less than 5%) may be needed to open/penetrate the shaft clove may do that also since it eats many plastics, but shaft left open may break and coconut or other oils are suggested aftery drying.

Mixture of an ounce of jojoba oil, two droppers of sage and dropper of rosemary oil rubbed into scalp at least an hour before shower is said to un-grey -- still testing that one.

Vinegar may improve conditions of dandruf, scalp itch and unclog pores. Vinegar is effective against fungus and many parasites. Apple cider vinegar is particularly effective as with topical and internal value.
