If you want lead someone; get them going your way first. The best way get them going your way is going in a way they agree with. Make a number of true statements; the weather; time of day; events or clothing will all work; then work in a leading statement or question. Pace some more with more truisms and lead again. Then alternate pacing and leading till they are really following well.
